- empathic affinity (more specifically, he gains strength and some minor telekinetic powers from your misery (i.e. fear, anger, hate, sorrow, any negative emotions).)
- cal was always the second most beloved when compared to his younger twin brother, aron. while aron was good, pure, and had the face of an angel, cal could inspire to nothing but badness. he thinks he has a mark placed upon him by god. his mutation peaks when puberty first starts (so, at the age of twelve or thirteen). while he does receive some power from positive emotions, he finds that his powers are at their strongest when there's negative emotions. after accidently killing his brother, cal runs away from home.
- at first, cal joins magneto's brotherhood of mutants because it's comfortable, because he's so full of self-hatred and self-pity that it feels good to be around people that feel nothing but hatred and disgust. then, after charles xavier tells him that he doesn't have to feel like that, that he has his own destiny to forge, he then defects to charles xavier's school for the gifted, where he learns to hone his powers from positive emotions. this would be after the cuban missile crisis, so like the late 1960s, early 1970s.
scenarios; i'd love to do a thread concerning cal's time with magneto and his gang. or his time with xavier (where major angst will be had!) i'm fine with whatever.
born human instead; cal is anti-mutant, only because their powers frighten him and because if he can center this self-hatred onto someone else maybe he can hate himself a little less. or cal is neither pro- or anti-mutant; he'll still use the mutants to his advantage anyway he can.
